Résumé
Un animateur de radio retrouve son frère Jason, la femme de celui-ci et sa belle-mère pour essayer de monter un projet de cité de jeux à Hawaï. Ils arpentent les rues et les jetées d'Atlantic City en égrenant leurs rêves. Finalement, le projet se dissout, Jason meurt et David reprend son émission de confidences nocturnes.
Commentaire
Après Head et Cinq Pièces faciles, le troisième long métrage intimiste de Bob Rafelson rencontra moins d'écho que le précédent. Le film est pourtant plein de charme, avec ses personnages en demi-teintes bâtissant des châteaux en Espagne, avec la belle photo de Laszlo Kovacs et l'interprétation nuancée de Nicholson. Une attachante tendance marginale du cinéma américain.
